Torque Wrenches - PITA

I have a halfords pro one for 8nm to 60nm or around that sort of range. Use it quite often and still works perfectly. I actually find torque wrenches more useful on the smaller bolts than larger. When it comes to applying 6nm to some cam cover screws or similar its great. Although I always tend to over tighten anything given the chance so it reigns me in.

I guess the trouble now is that you can get loads of tools for dirt cheap and for a one off job it is tempting. But usually you just end up cursing them. Those massive screwdriver sets for example that are made of cheese.

I had a similer misshap very recently , i bought a draper torque wrench to do up a 10nm bolt (Plaster clutch cover onto metal engine cover) it snaped one of the bolts and bent every other bolt.

I sent the wrench back looking for a better bit of gear!

Not trying to be nasty but what do you expect when you buy a crap cheap item that is supposed to be an 'engineering' tool?

On brakes do it by hand anyway, only thing I have ever torqued up is head and bottom end.
