i think its time to get one. i cant keep borrowing my dad's lol

from what ive gathered so far, i think ill be needing two to cover the range of power needed.

example. most 1/2" drive kits go from 40nm to 200nm, but then something like clutch pressure plates seem to be 25nm, a sump drain 30nm etc

is it best to buy two or keep an eye out for something that has the range for small jobs but then enough capacity to do suspension components that need 130+nm etc

just dont wanna spend loads etc

Or just do it up tight, then a little bit more :p

I used to use torque wrenches until I bought my MR2 ... I can't find any information regarding torque settings so I just do as above!

make sure its all greased up nicely so it will definately come off next time, but make sure its tight enough not to fall off :D

maybe im just being a geek who wants more tool lol

Just buy two!

I have a 1/2" that is 40-200nm and a 3/8" that does 10-80nm, just about covers everything!

Ran me to about £70 for the pair, 1/2" is a Teng and the other was some random one that i got from the local motorfactors, only needed it to do a few things with so dont expect it to last as long as a more expensive one.

thats what my final plan was. nice 1/2" drive and something to tide over the lower end.

oh well, best get the wallet out!

I have two but i spent more money on the 8nm to 60nm one i have. Personally i think its more important to have the smaller values accurate. If something like my headgasket needs doing, the bolts are so tight it doesn't really matter about it being bang on.

I got a big one going to 300nm from machine mart for only £15. Worth a try?

Bingo, I did the exact same- a smaller Halfords Pro 3/8th one, since going a couple of nm over on an M5 bolt is worse news than on a wheel spindle... And the big Machine Mart half incher. I'd probably get the high value Teng one if I was doing it again today though.
