One word - Utorrent.

Corrected ;) Anyway, the client shouldnt matter that much. Try turning on packet encryption, as it might be the ISP shaping the traffic. Edit; or maybe not if it worked on your other pc.

Maybe you need to set up a static IP on your new machine and forward the ports.

I know that when i built an old PC again, Utorrent had a random IP and it couldnt get through

I cannot see how anyone would want to use that bloated carp

Have you forwarded the correct ports in your router??

Erm, router? i dont have a router

Just a speedtouch adsl modem plugged into pc via USB. I'm going to try UTorrent now, see how that goes.

This might apply to you. Found it on another forum.

The problem lies in your network card. Your drivers are not up to date enough to support more than X incoming connections, and thus your bittorrent stops (and sometimes it resets the PC). There are 2 ways to fix this problem. The first one is to download an upgraded version of the drivers. Second one is to use theshadow's client and set the incoming connections to less than 50/55. This usually is enough to fix your problem.

This used to happen to me using bittornado, I needed to limit the maximum number of peers to 60 and then all was fine. Try that, its normally in advanced options.
