Tory MPs

So, with the resignation of Andrew Griffiths today that's another one down. Is it just me or does there seem to have been a huge number of resignations/firings from the current Tory party since they've been in power?
I can't help but think that if any other 'entity' had such a high %age of their staff members getting caught doing such significant things that there'd be a major investigation!

Or am I just taking too much notice?

How many people in other 'entities' would have to resign for sending saucy texts to consenting females who have nothing to do with said entity?

There is an odd dichotomy with politicians, everyone says how you are held to a higher standard in positions of public office and then invariably say 'oh that's just a typical politician' when they repeatedly show themselves to be a lying, cheating, corrupt **** with far lower morals than you're average Jo.

I think you'll find there have been far more Labour party resignations in the same period.

Trouble is his wife had a baby in April? So it doesn't look good does it, he's trying to appeal to tory voters not da man dem in the hood with 3 baby mamers each

Oddly enough, there was an article in this weeks Economist about this (and before this latest resignation).

The current May government is losing ministers at twice the rate of the nearest government (think it might have been one of Cameron’s governments) and was substantially more than the average rate. It was a comparison going back to Major’s spell as PM.

Exactly, all it shows is that these people are the same as everyone else really, the majority of them just being better educated and born into a higher class. Rather stupid though to act on said behaviours when you know the spotlight is on you at all times.

Speak for yourself! I certainly wouldn't proposition two young girls at half my age, humiliating my wife and kids in the process. Having said that, If I did I wouldn't have to resign my position... My line manager would find it hilarious.

Good luck becoming an MP if you aren't already rich. Now they just get a ridiculous wage (which seems to have unlimited rises, unlike other public servents), amazing pension, expenses, and a free house on top of their existing wealth. They are to motivated by money to put the country first.

When an MP resigns, does it trigger a by-election or do they employ a backup MP? I seem to remember around 1995 or 1996 time that several Tory MPs resigned and it was enough to bring their MP numbers down below the threshold for it to be a majority government. The Tories had to run the rest of their term as a minority gov't. Or have I mis-remembered this?

Is the same happening now? Despite with the support from the 10 DUP members?

I think the John Major back to basics era had a lot of sackings/resignations, and there was that guy who took himself out of the game with a bit of autoerotic asphyxiation and an orange in his mouth.
