Is there anyway to connect a xbox 360 and PS3 through toslink to Logitech Z5500's at the same time? Obviously the speakers only have 1 toslink connection - I want something that will just work without me having to switch between them each time!

I got a cheap one from an auction site to connect my 360 and Mac Mini to an AV Amp with single input. All works fine as long as only 1 device is switched on at a time, switching is automatic. If I have both switched on together I don't get sound (not a problem for my setup)

Can't remember exactly but cost was around £5.

Do you have any links to the kind of product it was? I've seen those 2-1 splitters but apparently they cannot be used for 2 inputs --> 1 output...:o

Ive got one of them 2 in 1 out jobbies of the bay.

As said as long as only one device is on it aint a problem!

Will get you a picky later if you want?

A certain high street electronics shop have "digital optical splitters" (a 2 toslink --> 1 toslink thing)....

Would this work to connect say a 360 and PS3 to some Logitech Z5500's? As long as I do not have both running at the same time.

Weirdly on the site they state that it only works the other way- but loads of other places seem to think they do work. :confused:

I don't really want a switch as such- want it to work without having to keep changing it over. Pictures would be welcome!

Just search for "toslink splitter" on the bay the one I have is the first that comes up, small silver thing. Defo works fine with 2 inputs and 1 output, I use it almost daily like this.

Ahh- just nipped out at lunch and got one from the rip-off merchant electronics shop! £8!! for exactly the same one that is £3.50 on ebay!

Now i'm tempted to take it back... but I do despise Ebay :o

Let us know how it goes.. just remember that you can only have 1 device on at a time.

Righto- all connected:

Xbox + PS3 --> splitter --> Z5500's

Works absolutely fine, each one working individually. If you turn them both on at once it appears the last one turned on works and the other produces no sound.

So all in all perfectly fine to use but as expected having both on at once is a no no.
