Have been out of the slightly higher performance end of the computing world for the past 4 years due to cash issues, now my income has finally caught up with my expenditure I am ready to sort my PC out.

I am looking at putting the following in my existing Cooler Master 210:

  • Abit IP-35 Pro
  • Intel Core 2 Quad-Core Q6600 G0
  • 2Gb (2X1GB) Corsair TwinX XMS2
  • 320MB EVGA 8800GTS
  • 520W Corsair HX Series
  • 300 Gb Seagate ST3300620AS Barracuda 7200.10
  • Optiarc (Sony/NEC) AD-7170A-0S
  • Vista Ultimate 64

On top of that lot I am also planning to get a 22" Samsung SM-226BW to replace my 17" CRT.

Has anyone got a similar setup? any pitfalls to look out for? Is there any difference between the dimensions of a ATX and a ATX 2.2 PSU, i.e. will it fit in a CM 210?

Thanks in advance :)

Crikey, your situation is eerily similar to mine, from the 4 year gap, current ATX case and prospective new build specs, including choice of LCD. Will be interested in the feedback

make sure the graphics card will fit in you're case.

How would you tell, I thought AGP, PCI, PCI-E, PCI-X all interfaced with the back panel in the same way, graphics cards don't mention dimensions... what bit wouldn't fit - if you see what I mean.

The 8800's are long cards and in some cases the HDD bays get in the way.

The 8800GTS is 22cm long, which fits in most cases but best to check.

Ok, CM210 is a Full ATX case so there is 291mm of clearance between the back panel and the drive bay behind the GFX card, seems several other people are using EVGA 8800's on Abit IP35's so the height of the caps et al shouldn't be a problem.
