So the TPCast works a treat.

Installed OpenTPCast and we've even got the microphone working, bonus!

For a little bit of fun (office Christmas party coming up) to make things a little easier I've strapped the battery pack to the headset.

It's a little heavy (currently trying to see if I can find a lighter battery that fits) but given that people will only be trying it out for shorter stints it makes passing it around much easier.

Nice! £320.... Arrrr! can't being myself to jump:)

Give the vive a little love though, those VR cover faux leather membranes bring the DAS up another comfort level.

On my 2nd Vive as I got bored the first time round waiting for new stuff. I saw the TPCast was available and having a couple of weeks free I had to give it another go.

The install is a bit fiddly but only needs to be done once hopefully. The actual software side was more straight forward and worked first time for me. Very different experience from day one which took several hours to get Vive/SteamVR all working reliably due to clashes and early drivers etc.

One tip I followed was to install a 2nd NIC in my system and plug the wireless router directly to that and keep it separate from my main LAN/WAN. Then after initially trying a not quite successful test with the HDMI transmitter sat on the desk I mounted it higher up on a shelf and pointed it down like they advise in the install guide. Once it was connecting it didn't cut out at all during gaming and I didn't notice any additional lag myself.

Seems best to start the TPCast app and make sure the headset has connected and then run SteamVR and then start an App/Game for the fastest connection.

Stupidly I still kept being conscious of a cable for the first few minutes of play but quickly revelled in the full freedom of movement!

I was suprised how much I had trained myself to avoid tangling the cable by turning back almost without thinking.
I have finally untrained that behaviour and it's glorious. Playing Fallout4 VR wireless I end up all over my room, ducking, leaning and just having a ball.
