Ok so use a computer every day and I still have to look at the keys when I type and use just two fingers. Is there a proper way to learn to touch type? Any recommendations on how I can learn? :p

Honestly Matt82 is right. MSN is how I learned.

Multiple convos on the go and not having to slow down to reply in each of them whilst either doing work or browsing the internet.

As it is I don't really know of an alternative now!

Practice not looking at the keys, make mistakes, try again. Get more of your fingers doing the work so you don't have to move your hands around as much.

MSN is the way that everyone i know who is around my age learned to touch type :D

You can always download a Jabber client (e.g. Pidgin) and connect it to Facebook IM. That can have you typing in many windows at once.

MSN and forums is how I taught myself to touch type. Keep pushing myself though, want to go faster :) I'm about 75 now 80 on a good day I've hit 90 before. I want 100+ though :p

I'm gonna make myself learn how to do it. Surely one of these free terrible online tutorials will help :D

MSN alternative? Skype. I believe all your old MSN contacts will automatically be added if you migrate your old MSN account over to it.

i prefer the manual key touching rather than touch screen typing. it is much faster the manual way. ;)

The first thing you need to learn is to get the backspace key 100% of the time without looking.

Then just type without looking. If you make a mis-hit, hit the backspace then attempt to hit the key again. Do this as many times as you need before you make the right hit.

Forums for me. Too much time typing on forums as a teenager. Fast typing with many typos.

Later started coding and discovered software is entirely intolerant of typos, so now I type rather more slowly and carefully. 20 words per minute, all correct, beats 100 wpm followed by three hours of debugging next week.

MSN is how I learned, it just came natural after having tons of convo's on the go at the same time, now i have no problem, unless it's a new keyboard or i am trying to show off whilst speaking to someone going like the clappers.... !

oO(look at me, ain't I cool!!)Oo

I learnt at school, my mum forced me into the typing class :( Two boys in a class of girls wasn't so bad though :)

Can touch type old school with my fingers on the "home" keys. Proved to be one of the most important things I learned at school tbh. I think there are programs to help you learn now.

Type typeracer into Google and have a go at that, pretty much forces you not to look at the keys. All about practice.
