So with Win8 being heavily based around a touchscreen interface, will multi-touch monitors be cheaper and more readily available?

I am just now downloading the Win8 consumer preview, with as close as I like to sit to my monitor (I use my pc from my bed) I might acquire one by time Win8 is fully released.

You'll see tablets with Windows 8 and more notebook/tablet hybrids. Don't think normal monitors will suddenly all jump on the touchscreen bandwagon, sitting in a chair and waving your arms is tiring and just doesn't work.

The Dell ST2220T Touch isn't that crazy expensive if you want one though (it has an IPS panel so compared to other IPS panels it isn't that expensive).

+1

To comfortably use a desktop touchscreen you really need to have it laying on a desk or at a slight angle from the horizontal. If you tried to use a vertically mounted touch screen then you will experience the issue of "Gorilla Arm" relatively quickly - and you would have to switch back to KB+M.

Considering you would need to lay the monitor horizontally then I don't think desktop touchscreens will catch on for some time - as most people don't want their desk dominated by a 22in+ monitor laid flat. Instead I would agree with Axeia that for touch screen uses tablets and laptops (with swivelling touch capable screens) will be much more popular - as you get the windows 8 touch experience without dominating your desk and the bonus of portability.

aldi get them in at times 20" touch screen and win8 does not appeal to me at all.

I am quite liking it for general web and MSN use. Not tried coding or gaming in it yet, but there is still the traditional desktop so I am not worried.

Cold boot to logged in in around 8 seconds? Yes please.
