What plausible things could a towbar haven used for on a Ford Fiesta (07). Been to see one today and salesman suggested that a trailer for garden rubbish might have been fitted. I'm a bit dubious since it has a electric point which suggests to me , caravans?

Anyone who uses a towbar, what towable things need electrics apart from caravans?

Iv had this discussion a few times, now i cant see a problem with buying a Fiesta sized car with a tow bar because you know it aint dragged anything heavy, a Mondeo no, but a Fiesta, **** it if the clutch is ok and you like the car buy it.

Or not, if it worries you give it a swerve, plenty more out there.

Pretty much every towable thing needs a light board, hence the electrics. My mate used to tow a motorcross bike with a small car.

It's a fiesta. There are zillions out there, why not buy one that doesn't cause you to ask questions about it on the internet? :).

Dont see it being a car thats towed anything silly myself. Only need a light bar if you cannot see the car lights which is usualy most of the time so people just get them, also probably been a package when buying the towbar.

If it bothers you that much theres plenty other fiestas arround IMO

I had a 1989 1.0 litre Fiesta Popular plus and it had a towbar...God knows what it could have pulled, it could barely shift its own weight!

My MK3 Popular Plus had a tow bar, 1.1l of pure power mated to a 4 speed box. No idea what the previous owners had tried to shift with it. First mod was to ditch it because it weighed about the same as the car.

i towed a much heavier car with my 1.2 fiesta fine, so what's wrong with a little trailer?

I didnt say there was anything wrong with a little trailer, im saying it wont have done any heavy towing because they are absolutely **** at towing.

No one uses a Fiesta to do any serious towing on a regular basis do they.

at least the bodywork wont be damaged if you reverse into a wall straight on?

No, just transferred to the chassis rails instead, much cheaper to fix if you bend it, right? :p

Towed a 1966 Ford Anglia down the road and through the back ally with mine, think I burnt off a bit of clutch but it was okay otherwise :p

Ok let me put it this way, if you were making a regular habit of towing Ford Anglias about the place, would your Fiesta be the weapon of choice?

Would rather pull the car along with my teeth... I was just sharing my Fiesta based towing experiences :p

Ah i see, ignore me im just having one of those "family" days here that involves every ****er in my house wanting something :D

no one in there right mind would. But theres plenty of people out there who are silly and buy the wrong car for the job lol.
