Haven't upgraded anything in my computer since I bought it all in 2013 or so. I've been quite happy with everything, barring one niggling issue with the computer freezing when it wakes from sleep. Haven't quite felt the need to upgrade as can play most things quite easily (Titanfall 2, Mass Effect 3, Dragon Age Inquisition etc.). More or less all of them, I play on full settings.
I fired up Witcher 3 again yesterday and I recall being able to play it quite easily but it looked a bit jittery when everything was on Ultra, so I checked FRAPS and it was somewhere between 20 and 35 FPS. Made me think it might be time to upgrade. Still just toying with the idea as there's nothing partiuclarly out yet that I'm really keen on playing and needs the upgrade (that's typically how/when I've upgraded in the past...got this machine because of Witcher 2). Cyberpunk next year maybe, but might end up getting it for the PS4.
So, if I were to upgrade, what should it be? I do realise the 770 is fairly old now, and was mid-range even when I got it, so I'm guessing there should be a lot out there that gives me a decent improvement? Given my hesitancy anyway, I don't want to spend too much - I was thinking maybe £200 - £300, but can be convinced to go up or down if it's worth it.
My monitor is a 24" at 1920 x 1200. Also toyed with the idea of upgrading it to a 27" or a 27" curved (unlikely to be anything higher than that), so if recommendation could support that as well, that would be great, but if not, then be great to know that as well so I can take it into account! Probably go and post in the Monitor sub-forum for that.
Current specs:
EVGA GeForce GTX 770 SC ACX Dual Bios 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Corsair Vengeance Pro Red 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-17100C9 2133MHz Dual Channel Memory Kit
Intel Core i5 4670K Quad Core Retail CPU (Socket 1150, 3.40 GHz, 6MB, Haswell).
850W Seasonic X-Series SS-850KM Full Modular, 80 PLUS Gold
Thank you in advance!
