I'm getting a full set of tyres bought for me for my birthday.

a set of 4 are available for £125 delivered from mytyres.co.uk. Are these any good? They're for my 205 GTi in 195/50/R15 fitment :)

Ooo, didn't realise that. Although I don't want a tyre thats very fast wearing, but I'm not massively bothered, as long as i'm not changing them every 6 months.

I have them in 55's and find them great :)

Saying that though if they did a F1 GSD3 in 55 profile then I would have gone for them so if they're only a few quid more in 50's then I'd go for them. :)

(Actually I'm getting Bridgestone RE720's next but meh).

EDIT - TR-1's a quick wearing too so I wouldn't worry about that when comparing F1's.

I wouldn't. I've had Eagle F1's in the past and have recently put a set of RE720's on my car. They shouldn't be compared together the difference is that big :)

Strange, it must just be down to the car's characteristics as everyone on the GTi6 forums swears blind that they're better :)

720
F1
TR-1

You can't really go wrong with any though, the advantages you're going to get marginal 99% of the time.

The T1R is rated as an excellent tyre on the mk2 MR2 BUT I imagine that is because they don't manufacture the Eagle F1s in the size need for the rears on the MR2..

My money would be with the F1s though

That means more expense :p Plus the stock alloys are widely regarded as being the best solution to maintaining proper handling characteristics for the car... It tramlines enough as it is!

Ive had both eagle f1s and toyos and i think the toyos are the better ones, they last longer, grip and my car handling is great! even in wet

Only a couple of mm into a set of T1-R's and they're proving to be better than the F1's I had. Similar grip and better wear rate (so far).
