Whats happened to Toyota these days? :(
No more Celica, No more MR2, No more Supra(I know its been no Supra for ages)
What have they done. The most sportiest car the seem to have now is The Corolla.
The only car i can find that toyota will be releasing in the future is the TRD Aurion but that will most likely be an Australian only car.

Why have they stepped away from there heritage?

There current line up is this

Camry
Corolla
Prius
Tarago
Yaris
Klugar
Landcruiser
RAV4
Coaster
HiAce
Hilix


Its just so bland :(

Will they ever step away from this people mover/family car place they have got them self in?
I would expect them to release at least 1 fun sports car in there range?

Im not saying they are a bad company, they still make quality products, but they just seem to have gone rather dull and bland compared to Toyota from the 80s and 90s

Even though there is.
You would expect a company as big as Toyota to have a sports model out to get a bit of a more sporty image and to sell to the people that buy cars like that

If there isnt a lot of money in the Market why would they?
 
:s what about the new shape mr2? Have they stopped selling that? Also, the celica? not great, definitely not up to the old celica standards, but still not a family car? Strange that they've stopped selling them :s

They have stopped them both now :(
 
They'll be back soon enough, in the early 90s they were one of the few companies to have many sports cars in their line-up (MR2, Supra, Celica) when others were dealing with the family cars.
 
The car infront may be a Toyota but you wouldnt notice or care! Hopefully the new supra will make it all a bit more exciting. Cars dont have to be dull to make a profit.

Because of an image they could gain from it.
The Extra Toyota's racing around tracks spreading the name of how good Toyota are.
And to get the market share of people who do buy sports cars aswell.

They could at least make a limited number of Sports cars
 
Yeah I think Toyota is going down a little

The interiors of the new Yaris and Pruis which I sat in at the motorshow were really really cheap and nasty too

Just not that nice

They didn't have them at the motorshow and I heard that they were stopping them too

Perhaps they've got a few left?
 
Well the Yaris is a cheap supermini, so it's not going to be the best in the world anyway I don't think, and as for the Prius, that's for those econuts, so it's probably made from loads of cheap light plastics to get the weight down :p, though not sat in one of them.

I'm suprised at Toyota really, I think if ever they start winning races / championships in motorsport, they'll probably start making sportier models again, as it's good for the Toyota name.
 
I know that the Yaris is cheap but the Clio, 207, Corsa (new shape, actually felt a lot nicer than the old one inside) and Colt that I sat in all had far nicer interiors :)

No idea to be honest. I don't no for sure, just guessed because they're still on the website with prices and build your own.

In July 2004, Toyota announced the Celica (as well as the MR2) would be discontinued in the United States at the end of the 2005 model year because of increasing competition and lack of sales. [1] Celica sales hit 52,406 units in 2000, but dropped sharply to 14,856 in 2003. As of November 2004, just 8,216 Celicas had been sold for calendar year 2004. Many attribute the 2004 loss in sales to the introduction of the cheaper Scion tC. This is a flawed theory, because Toyota owns Scion and is positioning the Scion tC as a successor to the Celica, as part of a greater brand positioning scheme. This leaves Toyota with only three sporty cars, the Camry Solara, the Toyota Corolla and Corolla Matrix XRS.

Exporting of the Celica ceased in July 2005. However until mid-May, customers could still order one, although it was advised they took action before that time ended. Overseas the Celica received a small restyling, with new bumpers and headlamps, continuing its sales.

In UK, Toyota released the Celica GT. This is not the same as GT in North America. The British GT is actually the T-Sport with additional body kits and bigger alloys.


My emphasis. Maybe this means that they are selling fairly well over here but discontinued in the US and other countries where they aren't doing as well?
 
The celica stops getting sold here in november if you guy who works at toyota sunderland aint telling lies. was in there the other day.. i have to agree.. they have gone down hill :/ and it is all a money making thing.. simple as that.. they will make something that stands out soon enough tho. ;)
