Well I've been pondering what to get as a replacement for t'lise for.. well.. about 3 weeks now.
Bounced around from supra to gto to MR2, then down to avensis and ford mondeo.
But I've decided I want a car with a bit of character..
Infact.. I've decided I don't want a car at all.

I'm going to see if I can find a decent 1980s toyota hilux pickup.
The insurance seems pretty damn cheap on these (which pleases me greatly!).

However, since these beasts are nearly as old as I am (some older, but I don't want to go quite that far I think!) I'm having a wee bit of trouble finding info on 'em.

Anybody know of a site that lists specifications and revisions for them?
Or better yet, a buyers guide of some description!

Any suggestions welcome :)

I've wanted a lifted Hilux with large, off-road wheels/tyres, bull bar + spots, roll bar + spots ever since I saw the black one in Back To The Future

An elise to a Hi-lux... you're gonna kill yourself on the first roundabout :p

I can see the appeal though! Wasn't it the Hi-lux that topgear tried to demolish?

True, but I was looking at cheap cars (£1000 odd), and thinking they all lacked any kind of character.
Then I remembered the Hi-Lux!
Duct Tape = character

Plus I have ****loads of rubbish I need to take to the dump that's been piling up since I bought the elise :p

If you drive a Hilux in to your mate's MX5, you'll kill him.

Bit of a change from an Elise too

Excellent, another bonus!
