TP-link Deco speed drop when connected via 1gb network

Im afraid that is the best I can get as it does not have much cable to pull out

The modules unclip from the plastic faceplate. You should be able to get a better view if you unclip them.

Here are the images ive took no4 is the deco s4 no6 is vm https://prnt.sc/1qie8rc https://prnt.sc/1qie88c https://prnt.sc/1qie778

So the Deco is on port 4? That's linking at 1Gbps so that's good. 6 is the VM router? That's linking at 100Mbps which isn't good.

I'm a bit confused about how things are connected. Any chance you can do a diagram, even something hand drawn wouild be good. I'm guessing that the switch is at one end of the cat 6 cable and the VM router at the other? I think that the VM router isn't physically next to the switch.

Is that right? If it is then it's a cabling problem as I suspected. You should be getting a 1Gbps link between the switch and the VM router.

yes the deco is on port 4 and VM is on port 6

I hope I can help resolve the confusion give me a min

Yep, that makes sense I think. Is the switch upstairs or downstairs?

I still think the problem is with the cable that's running between the patch panel and the RJ45 sovcket that you couldn't get good photos of. Try to get pictures of both ends of that cable, so the terminations into the RJ45 socket and on the patch panel.

I know you've tried already, but try new patch lead at both ends.

at the bottom of the stairs, I'll try once I get a chance.

It seems people have been reporting link drop negotiation speeds across multiple TP-link routers that they have now started a thread about it , not sure why it was marked as resolved so quickly?
thanks

Do you have something else you can plug in where the TP-Link device is to rule out the cable run?
yes but its the same in them all unless its connected directly into the VM router, Im wondering if it could be the cable from the router to the rj45.

ill test that once I get home.

Sorry but shameless bump on this thread. I have no issue with getting 240Mbps download and 30Mbps on pretty much all my devices on my S4 setup its a bit complicated but Virgin have just upgraded my connection to 1gig and it doesnt appear to have made any difference. I have 3 Deco s4 units, one acting as my router and I have the new super hub 5 setup in modem only mode. Happy to be educated that my s4 system is now to old to cope but do you think there is an issue somewhere with this system, I would imagine I should be getting higher speeds?

Sounds like the wifi performance on the S4 is being maxxed out there. A quick look at a couple of reviews shows that outright speed on these units is pretty poor, reviewers only getting aorun 300Mbps.

You'd need to upgrade for any meaningful improvement.
