The provided Vodafone Hub router was a piece of junk that couldn't stream 1080p on Netflix reliably and had constant dropouts so I replaced it with the VR900, version 3.0. Speed and stability is infinitely better, I can stream in 4k and my partner can do a zoom video call simultaneously without any buffering. Virtually impossible before.
The only issue I seem to have is that every 4 or 5 weeks, wireless devices (phone, TV, laptop, etc) cannot connect and I need to reboot the router, forget the wifi details on the device and reconnect. Wired devices don't have any issue.
I can't remember what made me suspect the 5ghz as the issue but previously I set it up so 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands had the same SSID and password so devices could change automatically if signal strength was an issue. Although since my TV also has the same issue and I haven't moved the TV or router, I'm not sure it's related.
Anyhow, I disabled the 5Ghz and it seems to have been stable for a few months now. Router firmware is the latest, anyone have any ideas what might be causing the 5Ghz issue?
