I have had trouble d/ling from XBL with 'connection lost' over the last few days, and I need to find out if my ISP is at fault.

So I need to traceroute the XBL server to see if I can get a connection from this connection, so I need to know what IP to traceroute is possible?

Thanks

i can get them both so looks like a problem your end your not using ntl by any chance?

Thanks for doing that for me, I had trouble downloading both, and then when I finally made a connection it simply downloaded a 3-4KB file(Should be 144MB) and completed, so something went totally wrong there.

And yes I'm using NTL...I guess I need to contact them to sort something out with my connection?

I contacted NTL and told them about my problem, and they said that seeing as they can connect the the XBL IP fine themselves, that it must be a problem at my end, probably with the router blocking the file, even though I have no problems downloading anything else on this computer.

Is there anything on the router at all which is likely to block this file I'm trying to download from MS, but not anything else?

try connecting directly to your modem rarther than through the router, ntl have been having problems lately with pages timeing out and some unavlible so they may just be trying to fob you off.

If I connect my Xbox straight to my cable modem I can't connect, I run the XBOX LIVE Connectivity test, and it fails the MTU test, which it passes when I have my router connected.

Is there a solution to this?

Are NTL likely to fix the problems they have been having recently?

Lol, I rang them this afternoon, and both the guy I spoke to and the supervisor told me that it was a problem with Xbox which is not something they support, but when I asked him why I couldn't access it from my PC which can download fine from other websites, he still blamed it on MS.
