Tracing an address from a Car Reg?

The other day I saw my (long lost from the CSA) gf's sisters dad and took his registration number of his car.

Has anyone ever traced someone from just their car registration details?

Surely this is your gfs dad as well? Or is it a step sister?

But on the other point - very little chance the only people who keep a record tying registration and address will be subject to data protection laws and as such you have no chance.
 
my flatmate has a dad like that... Some people are truly disgusting.

The police can do it but I don't know if they would. You could try giving it to the CSA but they're pretty useless from what I've seen of them, need you to do all the work yourself then the guy can just turn round and say "oh I've had a change in circumstances, I have a £million house and 3 flash cars but can only pay 40p/month for 3 kids"
 
My gf's sisters dad and my girlfriends dad are not the same.

I think Ill ask the DVLA for the details and see how I get on.
 
Phone DVLA, and say you need a new registration document for a vehicle that you have just bought... It will have the previous owners (Gf's Dads)address on it !!! ;)

Or something...the dad hasn't been paying, or been chased up by the CSA basically. So supplying the reg means they can then chase him for monies.

easiest way is to say that the car has been parked on your land and you want to contact the owner, it takes a few days to get a response but you will get one

Say to who, if its the police, is that not in some way illegal?
 
the dvla, it's a perfectly valid reason to ask for the details
yes in your case you want it for a different reason, so it wouldnt be good karma, but i dont know how illegal it would be

I wouldn't imagine the DVLA release personal details that easily.

They would probably tell you to deal with it through the police?

Yep... they will be bound by the Data Protection Act also....
