What exactly is entailed in a "track and trace investigation" on a failed delivery?

I've been hounding an e-tailor for the past 2 weeks due to having spent £140 with them and never recieving my goods, every time being fobbed off with the same excuse and ive now been told by city-link to get the e-tailor in question to do a track and trace investigation

so what do they do? is there some special tracking device in these boxes that we dont know about? :p

Sounds like a paper chase to me where they follow the shipment a step at a time to find out where and when it stopped and then blame whoever was in charge of that bit...

the parcel should be scanned at every point along the way. so they should be able to tell you where it went missing alone the line!

ok, so in theory it should only take a day, maybe two maximum to find all the pieces of paper in the paper trail?

bet i dont hear anything back for another week or even two, service at that place is absolutely disgracfull (its the place thats like ocuk but has an orange/white layout, sure you know the one)

Might take just a bit longer. There is not much paper around these days in their line of work but the e-tailor will probably have to kick off the process, Citylink will in turn have an SLA of their own. That is, if the e-tailor logged it right away.

Even if it is sorted, get on the phone with a list of all contact you made with them, ask to speak to a manager and take names, even if they fob you off.

well this is useless:
Thank you for your response.

I am not familiar with the track and trace investigation that City Link have stated we do. I have contacted City Link and they have stated 2 boxes were signed for.

I apologise for any inconvenience or annoyance caused.

:/ he/she isnt familiar? best find someone who is then

Sod it im just going to email my works account manager with them, get him to sort it for me, the drones of the company dont seem to have a clue
