I think a thread like this cropped up before on GD but I can't find it now. I've lost touch with several school friends and gotten back with them with the help of Friends Reunited. Not so successful on Facebook though, and there's still 1 person who I'm trying to find.
I know:
- first and last names
- her d.o.b. (including year)
- her sister's d.o.b. (including year)
- her mother's d.o.b. (but not the year)
- address, including post code
- telephone number
- secondary school, as we both studied there
The one thing I have going against me, her being a girl, is that her surname will have changed if she has gotten married. Nonetheless, I think readers here can agree that I have a lot of information.
What I've tried and found out:
- Facebook, Faceparty and Myspace each returned several matching names but none with the right d.o.b. A lot of Facebook users barely show a corner of their profile now, so it's even harder to get a lead unless I ctrl-v the same message across 50+ accounts bearing the same name.
- Friends Reunited lists our school and my presence on there, but not her presence, nor her sister's
- A search on www.houseprices.co.uk revealed that their house was sold in 2003, which throws most of my information out of the window
- 192 still lists their house to the family name, but is obviously out-of-date
- I've used Google to extract people of the same name in England, written to a few of them, but got the wrong person each time. At least I narrow down my search by knowing that I've struck off a few people.
Given that I've tried fruitlessly for years, I'm fearing that she's dead, but I welcome any further suggestions. In the old OcUK thread (which I was unable to find), someone mentioned a library. What resources do libraries have for detective work?
Thanks.
Serious post btw, as today (8.Jun.2011) is the 15th anniversary of me losing that friend due to circumstances beyond both of our control.
