Tracking Results Query

Aye, car is lower by 3cm now, went around the clovers a few times to test em out, my tyres aren't going to last very long at this rate :o

I used to think Protyre in Plymouth was good, until they did the tracking on my wifes Hyundai Accent. The operator said he's had to adjust tracking on front and rear wheel, and the figures did show a change in both. I was a bit suspicious at the time, but after checking there is absolutely no adjustment on on the rear of the Accent, no ecentric bolts, no shims, no nothing...

My readings have always been that - means it points towards the middle, + means points to the outside of the car.

So a - and + suggests the wheels are like : / / Which obviously isn't what you want.

But as long as the total error is small, that just means the rack is very slightly off center, i.e. you will get fractionaly more lock in one direction than the other.

Precisely.
Really!?! I'm suprised it works like that, but it does indeed make sense.

That's my lesson learnt for the day!

Which is what I was thinking... that it just means that the steering wheel needs to be turned slightly to one side to go straight rather than dead centre?

I really need to test this out, unfortunately I aren't going to get chance until the weekend I think :(

Well yeah, but even then. Ackerman steering will have a slight affect so when you 'centre the rack it may not be exactly what you want, and of course the wheel won't be straight
