TrackIR 5

I have been using trackir for years , it is amazing

The doubters have obviously never used one before , because if they did
they would never look back

2 keys need to defined , one for pause function , the other for reset.
You will find yourself using these keys a lot.

Driving / flying in arma/arma2 is amazing , I also love using it in flight sims.

Trackir 4/5 there is not much difference between them (res a little higher , poleing rate slightly faster)

But all in all , I cannot recommend it enough

I use Cachya - it's a little finikky but it works well once you have it set up. The downer is you look like a bit of a prat wearing it :D

I'm going to try this! looks great, I'm not really needing top notch accuracy, I'd just like to have the gimmick of looking about in FSX. I recon my PS2 Eyetoy is up for this, very clear webcam on PC.

If it works I'll post back. If I don't, I'm crying in a corner.

Ive got this working great, the only problem is it wont let me upgrade from the trial version...

I've opted to go for Freetrack instead, I'm waiting on LEDs, resistors and a battery holder, I'll rig up a baseball cap for 6DOF using my Eyetoy.

Are you aware holding left alt in ARMA2 will give you freelook capability? It's not TrackIR but it's cheap and might help you make up your mind on shelling out the full whack.

I m looking at geting this, might help with lock on as well :P

wonder if we could get Ocuk to stock them, hmmm

I've used mine with LockOn... Its brilliant! It's brillinat with everything i've used it with come to think of it.

I need this for BlackShark and lockon i will go for number 4 tho will do me fine.

Had a go on my m8s with lockon was awesome,i had my douts about the head movment part but not a problem at all it comes very natural l for me.

TrackIR is superb, I bought the 5 a few weeks ago and although I have only played it a bit in ArmA II, I am totally sold. It is only because I have been playing Planetside on a free month's sub that I haven't used it more. What is really needed is for the users of this hardware to scream it from the rooftops to get it written into games. If this got implemented in COD or one of the Battlefield series fully it would clean up.
the bf devs have been informed when track ir owners wanted it in bf2 /2142 but it couldnt be added in as it would have required a lot of code changing for them games.

They are also reluctant to have it in bf3 as they think it may be an unfair advantage. God forbid it impacts the rank system :p

You got it working then?
tis working perfectly and didn't take long to make. Assuming you have a webcam, soldering iron (there are alternatives if you can't), and a spare baseball cap, the total cost for me was £5 inc delivery. I even had to order resistors in lots of 50's because they cost 2p each, but that still just cost £1.

@ iamTakeo
where did you get all the parts to build this from. Can you recommend anywhere.
ta

Hey Panda, I got everything from http://uk.farnell.com/ and followed this simple guide http://forum.free-track.net/index.php?showtopic=1856
Now I have it sewed onto a baseball cap and it works perfectly.

-though I get a bit dizzy, still getting used to it. I've been making mistakes because I'm too busy looking about the cockpit or off at the scenery, but don't let that put you off trying Freetrack. Imagine you spent £140 on TrackIR and concluded it was a bit of a gimmick. Though, I will continue to use it in Live For Speed, FSX and IL-2, perfect for any sim game.

-note, I'm assuming the link is ok as the firm only sells electrical stuff and not computer hardware.

- lol I'm at a severe disadvantage getting used to it. Its a bit of a gimmick but its really cool.
