On release day which is the 14th.
I was split between buying the "Star" Version of the game but then decided not to as I already own Trackmania + Sunrise, I know it would never happen with publishers but it would be glorious if I could activate my old games on Mania Planet. Looking forward to the launch

What, when!! One of my fav games of all time have I missed the launch sounds like you guys already have it? Used to be in the top 5000 world wide on TMN love the damn game!
Edit: Nevermind just found out you can download it from ubi with full unlock on the 14th. Will join the ocuk server tonight once I have d/l it, tag same as this.

Some musing though played it for a couple of hours last night.
Performance: do not enable vsync in nvidia cpanel it will lock the game to 30fps. You can enable it in game by going to compatability and manually setting fps to 60 or whatever.
SLI performance is worse than single card performance (not unsurpising at this moment)
Overall my rig on 1 480 will full eye candy on was around 40 to 60+ fps not great with the dips to be honest especially on something so fast as tm. Hopefully driver updates will sort this.
Graphics are nice in general though; maybe due to early tracks this, but some of the scenery reminds me of old school raster games like outrun or powerdrift where you can really see the rasterisation as you speed through the tunnels and canyons. Overall though a nice improvement from TMU.
Gameplay: I'm not sure I like it.... I'm from a stadium background so was at least expecting the option to play that rather than the sports cars (maybe I'm not looking hard enough?) Control seems a lot less precise, from memory much more like the origiinal trackmania, the car slides to0 easy and they are missing a view option which is the thing which really peed me off. There is only one back of the car view now there used to be two, one which was behind and slightly above the rear end.
Overall then I think I'll let it simmer before I make judgement, still in beta and tsill some driver updates needed and please give me stadium back!

There are two rear views...I get them by pressing 1 and 2. Seems the same as I remember from TMO.
edit - just noticed the latest update pushed them on to numbers 6 and 7 for some reason. Remapped them now, all is right with the world.

Set cpu/gpu synchro from 1 to none.
Now my loading times are MUCH better and im sure the game plays a lot faster too. Now my GTX 570 is actually being used as I can hear the fans kicking in after playing for a while

Love to try this out as I've got all the others but I want to try the demo before buying, I'm not coughing up £20 for crap that wont run on my machine.
I might need this as the nations got me through sleepless nights with my daughter (now 5!!!!) and now another on the way......

What card do you have?
Looking at your Main PC spec in your sig, a friend of mine is running on a lower spec machine with a 5870 and can play this perfectly fine with decent enough settings.

I was racing against 'gimpy' yesterday, thought it might be you.
It will, it scales brilliantly. I'm sure it would work on a machine thats 6 years old, probably older

I have an 8800GT in the machine but I've wondered about changing for a 2xx/3xx card for a while but I don't do much heavy gaming atm, mainly just sequels to ones I played when I was younger - I don't have the time (inclination) to learn from scratch.
Looks like I might have to bite the bullet.
