Anyone had trouble with the new update? I tried it briefly last night and I can't seem to play online any more (though I only did a quick check).

Thanks to the people that tried my tracks and the comments :) Glad you enjoyed them :D

Ignore the 'author' times on them as they are rubbish, I just whizzed through quickly to make sure they were doable!

For the first one, yeah 3 laps is a bit annoying, but when you make a circuit track the game forces it to be a 3 lap challenge, if you play it on a server online its acutally just laptime based like other tracks (Which I much prefer). I think my best laptime on that one is about 42 secs.

As for the 2nd track, those blind corners are a swine aint they :D The one before the corner to the corkscrew you can actually just fly over and land in the middle of the corner to shave off some time ^_^ I think my best time on that one is about 52 secs. :)

I've made annother couple of maps, but not uploaded them yet, i'll bung em up later and you can have a play on those as well if you like.

Ta again :)

Arhem

Can someone email in trust

I cant find this for 4.99

Yes I have tried google et al. I ordered it from a shop but it never got delivered. I checked on google earth the location of the shop, and it was some housing estate!

Thanks mucho

Hey,

Anyone still playing this? I only downloaded it a few days ago as it is now free (and Starforce-free!) on Steam! Doing really well atm, but I've gotten to the red tracks and struggling a lot without a joypad, so I've just ordered the 360 pad for Windows.

If anyone is still playing, add me to your friends list!

Cheers,

Suman

Any word on your new tracks Hex?

Here's my 3rd track, first go at a split track, still needs a bit of tweaking, i've been busy with other games so need to go back and finish these (got about 3 others in the works :o )

Track 3

Sumanji - You'll find that this game is actually easiest with the keyboard (what I and most of my friends discovered anyway!).

No way dude, you neeeeed some analogue loving for the quciker courses (and if you want those NADEO medals!!) I remember doing the exact same thing with Trackmania before ESWC last year :)

Nah not at all, I find being able to go full lock to full lock instantly gives you far more of an edge on most courses.

Suppose it is all down to your play style, but I found I was far far slower on the 360 pad Vs. Keyboard.

Same here. I'm much faster using keys than a joypad. I've never felt the need for analogue steering in TM.

In my experience, it depends on the track. There are some tracks (most noticeably in Island mode from Sunrise and United) where having a pad is a provable advantage. Then again the Desert environment benefits from the precision of a keyboard. Not sure what the best one for Stadium is but again I'd say it depends on the track.
Keyboard all the way for me tho - I don't like Island that much any way :)

Still playing - usually find me on the Mad Laps server (usually on the first page of the UK servers page).

Favored input device depends entirely on the player.

Out of the two widely recognised best TM racers, Sandder and Frostbeule, one uses keys and one uses pad.

Personally I find pad easier for drifting but that's just me, and a much higher percent of pro players use pad, but it goes to show that if you prefer keys you won't be limited by your choice.

(Talkin about stadium btw. For other environments pad wins hands down)

I play in real F1 racing, Mad laps pro, full speed addicts, mistral work selection, RC Sbp team.
Left hand on WASD, and I use right hand for braking on the down arrow key. I find it OK, and use camera position 3 most of the time, unless I know the track well then I use 2.

For anyone using the 360 pad, have you installed the xbcd alternative drivers. Found I had to do this to get the brake/accel working together properly (ie can't drift otherwise as the brake cancels out the accel). Or has this been fixed in the latest MS drivers?
