Colne.... Up Norf.
Im currently driving a 2006 Honda Civic Type R, ive had it a good few months and i really enjoy driving it, but, ive managed to save a few quid and im thinking of blowing it on my car.

My current thoughts are either;

1) Part Ex the CTR for a Scoobie (RB320 or STI PPP)
2) Part Ex the CTR for an ITR (DC5)
3) Keep the CTR and spend a bit of money on it... ECU, Suspension, LSD, Exhaust and induction kit.

Ive asked for suggestions and advice on several car forums and i get one sided arguments on each... So im asking here on OcUK, as im more likely to get some unbiassed opinions. Thanks for any help, Darryn.

Sell it and buy a faster car, but not another japanese one. Then you have the best of both worlds, ease and you get to lose the japanese interior.

Trade up... I presume you are keeping the same insurer to keep the no claims building though?

Aye, im tied into Elephant because i used the 10month accelerator, which was probably a mistake. Ive read many other insurers wont recognise it as 1yr NCB. With elephant in January I will have 30months, which Elephant will class as 3years NCB.
Thanks for the suggestions so far, very similar to what i got told on the Scoobie forums. :p

As for the Non-Jap car suggestion, there arent very many non-jap cars i like the look of... in fact the only one i can think of in my price range is the Z4 coupe, and i dont want a RWD car until ive got a few years driving experience.

Never had a problem with the 10 month thing, my first "year" i used a 10 month policy and its never been questioned.

If you have had your license only 2.5 years and have 3 years ncb though i could see this having questions asked though!

Oh, and I say trade up!

Whilst I've seen plenty of internet 'experts' repeat this as fact I don't recall seeing a single actual instance of anyone having trouble getting their NCB recognised.

At the end of the day your renewal letter says 3 years NCB, whoever you show that to as proof of NCB doesn't know how you got it.

In January ill have held my License for 1yr and have 3yr NCB... most online systems wont let me progress showing it as an error, and on the phone it confuses the heck out of them.

I can see why that would do, how did you gain the other 2 years, moped or something?

That wouldn't work, bike can't go to car and car can't go to bike. Most likely insured his own car for learning in. :)

Exactly, bought the Mini and kept it garaged but insured on my Provisional for quite a while before i could be bothered to actually learn to drive.

I have used bonus accelerator many times in the past and never had a problem switching insurer and keeping the NCD.

Well thats one load off my mind, i was going off what i remember reading on other forums, although up until now Elephant have been the cheapest company ive had quotes off anyway. :)

I know Bell is part of Admiral group(who i was with last year), but they accepted my NCB from Bonus accelerator no problem

Don't tune it.. You will only get the hunger for more powaaah!

Get a scoobydoo!

(p.s nice to know about the accelerator bonus :p I've considered it before in the past but never thought it would be recognised!)

I would spend my money on an RB320. Got very good reviews and looks the part as well - just watch the running costs though.
2) Part Ex the CTR for an ITR (DC5)
I absolutely love the DC5, but it is somewhat "overpriced" and i don't think it'd hit the spot as well as a Impreza RB320 would. I think you'd end up getting a bit bored with it after a while like the CTR.

Like Gaijin said, tuning Honda's is very expensive and you get little gains from it.

EDIT: also, have you considered something like an M3?
