Trading the stockmarket (NO Referrals)

It's all very reletive, in the grand scheme of things it's been very very static for the past 6-9 months. Althrough i think that it will start to steadly start to go up after the election, espically if the tories win

Can someone explain the dividend payout process? How long before the payout do you need to hold the shares?
I'm assuming i can't just buy the shares 1 day before divi payout day, collect 5% and sell the next day.....

A rally is a term used to describe a sudden rise in stock prices, especially after a period of falling ones. [For example, if the stock market drops in the morning and investors rush in to buy companies at the cheaper prices, the stock market has rallied.]

If the increase in stock prices holds up, journalists and financial professionals refer to it as a sustained rally.

There is an ex dividend date - usually 30 days or more, before which you have to have held the shares

DOH DOH DOH and double DOH!

Solo Oil well drilling is basically a duster.

Tullow Oil (TLW) said that its Likonde-1 well offshore Tanzania has encountered thick sands with hydrocarbon shows. However, due to a high gas influx, the well has had to be plugged and abandoned. A second well will be drilled in the same region. Despite the decision to abandon the well, Merrill Lynch was encouraged by the news, as it confirms the prospectivity of the basin and shows the oil potential of the block. Tullow shares rose by 32p to 1,282p.

Same news isnt that. Its just one drill site, nows the time to buy if any I would think

Did you not consider selling half your position previously to keep high cashflow if not necessarily the maximum profit

Britishland look very interesting. They're stalling to build 122 Leadenhall street and have delayed the construction of the temporary garden site. They're pretty much loosing availability of office space in the City with 100 Broadgate going, so only 10% left to let. Only logical solution to their problem is build 122 Leadenhall. They could build speculatively without a tennant but I don't think that's the case. Reports are circulating around the Square Mile of 500,000 sq ft of space being required by a company, which is perfect for Britishland since they're in direct talks with this mystery company. LandSecs, Sellar and Real Estates AG have already pressed ahead with their developments, BL are eager not to fall behind. It's very tempting. :)

No I was being greedy :D
It's not that bad anyway my average is .0054 and they are only .0050 currently. Probably a steady slide lower until they announce IF they are going to participate in the second drill.

I'm not buying any more here, too risky, I rather fancy RBS or maybe another rocky road punt on Stellar Diamond if they can find a stable base (not seen it yet)
