Yes it is betting. Who said it wasn't?

I can say why I think the price is going to go up to make a quick bit of cash.

I did in fact say why
You said you feel it's going to go up because it did yesterday - which isn't really a reason, more of just a feeling. Past performance is not an indicator of future performance and all that.

It's betting which of course is fine, if you're going in with your eyes open.

GME is just roulette. Just because there's been 100 reds in a row, doesn't mean there is going to be another one. On the flip side, it doesn't mean it's more likely that it'll be a black.

I assume there are quite a small number of people with large amounts of money who are making a killing with their calls on GME but I suspect once they start to withdraw their money then it'll quickly come back to earth.
That person investing $1000 isn't shifting the share price.

Agreed, that's the big thing with Reddit, as a collective their userbase can actually cause pretty huge swings, especially on smaller stocks. But obviously it's the big cheeses (mmmm cheese), that have got in early and started the move that make the rewards.

Hell i don't know whether the pictures are fake, the people are just gambling with their life savings or are rich as hell, but some of the screenshots posted in there are insane from the brief reading i did yesterday.

What a day. Yesterday was.

Melvin now has new capital behind it, so it will be interesting today, but the amounts some WSB users are putting in are crazy. It's interesting the group has grown to over 2m users too.

It seems like some are jokingly trying to get Musk to tweet about it. As many know he's no fan of Investment firms with big shorts.

Things could turn ugly now. I saw the tweet where the Reddit founder told someone to buy. Is he still at Reddit? If so the SEC might be interested. It could be seen are organising people to manipulate the market rather than just a group of individuals buying.

What i'm also curious about is where to draw the line between reality and conspiracy theory.

I've not seen posts moaning about MM's hunting stop losses and advising everyone to remove their stop losses since my days on the LSE board, yet Reddit is full of them.

I assume in the majority it's people just regurgetating things they've read, but how much of an actual strategy is this for big institutions to make a quick win?

Some pretty interesting legal ground to be covered. Obviously institutions colluding to manipulate prices is (in theory) clamped down on....what do they in the days of subreddits where amateur retail investors can start to move the market? Interesting times.

Personally, I think the WSB people aren't the ones moving it, it's institutional investors just using them and their newfound internet notoriety to get an edge.

Anyone saying GME doesn't have any fundamental changes clearly hasn't looked into it at all and has just discounted it as "reddit = pump and dump'

Not saying that the fundamental changes are anywhere big enough to cause what is happening so far but it's an additional catalyst for sure.

As far as I am aware it has a new CEO who has brought some shares, anything else?

These trading halts completely ruin the momentum.

There was talk that halts were to allow market makers to shore up their positions and that afterwards they were engaging in naked shorts to try and drop the price. No idea how true it is.

Also read that one of the companies what provided invested in Melvin Capital, was Citadel which is also a market maker.

Seems like the game is rigged.
