Traffic Cop - Question

Hey guys,

Just wondering if anyone can give me a bit of their past experience. I was travelling up from Stamford to Aberdeen and went past a stationary traffic officer at around 80-85 MPH indicated (yes breaking speed limit, baby killer etc etc).

What are the odds on them issuing a ticket without stopping me?

Cheers for the replies.

If you were in a 30 zone, you're probably in trouble. If you were on a motorway, you're probably OK.

Might be better to include the speed limit next time.

They were probably monitoring the ANPR and were doing nothing with speeding. I wouldn't even worry about it tbh. Not to mention that if you're doing 80-85mph most police officers won't care because if they did they'd pull over hundreds of cars an hour, which of course would be impossible.

I was under the impression a traffic car needed to pull you over and issue a ticket?

No, they don't; they can issue an NIP based on a video or photo just like the civvies who usually deal with them. However, it's much easier to deal with by stopping you, so they will almost certainly do this instead. That way there won't be arguments about who was driving. And since 85 indicated is about 82 in the Real World, they really don't care unless you are driving like a tool. The OP is safe.
