Train Crash in Cumbria.

A Virgin train has derailed and slid down an embankment in Cumbria, witnesses say.

Witnesses said the train derailed before sliding down an embankment

'Derailed and slid down an embankment' said witnesses of a train in Cumbria.

Probably a bunch of ****** put concrete on the tracks...

Will be interesting to see Virgin's PR swing into action on this as IIRC they've not had an accident like this before?

They've hit cars on level crossings before, I think.

EDIT: Enough with slagging off the reports' grammatical correctness! They probably typed this out as fast as possible, it's being corrected and updated as we speak.

"After watching the train derail, it then slid down the embankment" witnesses said about the train that slid down the embankment after derailing

They now say it was the 1715 - the article has been updated.

"Where I am there are some injuries - a woman with a very badly hurt back but I suspect further up the train it's a bit more serious.

"There's some carriages stuck up in the air and some are just lying on their sides. We all had to climb out the top of one of ours".

They have - a Virgin Trains Class 87 hauled service struck the back of Northern Spirit 142 in 1999, at Winsford.

Wouldn't you guys just sitting here taking the mick feel really rather bad if it later emerges people have lost their lives in this accident?

No. No one has joked about the crash, only the crap wording of the report.

Indeed but we were taking the **** out of the journalism

"The train seems to have fallen down an embankment and rolled. There are still people trying to get out."

Yeh, dont bother trying to help or anything - do interviews and try to get in the paper!

I'd imagine the police, ambulance, fire and other rescue crews are taking care of it all. Journalists (the evil beings that they are) are better at writing about things rather than rescuing people.

Hope the train crash doesn't claim a lot of lives. I suspect Virgin would be making a PR announcement soon.

Off topic: How can journalists go to third world country's, film a poor starving child who earns less than 10p a day, walk away with that footage and show the rest of the world?

ROFL at this thread! ;) Not at the passengers of the train which witnesses said slid down an embankment after derailing. Hope they are fine! :(

why cumbria :( no overtime for me then..

I expect some chavs put a sleep or similar across the line. Or maybe some sort of livestock, it has been known for a cow to derail a train, but normally they just get minced.
