Unless you are actually a flame, I would expect no "compo".
one Railway will give you at least 50% of your single journey train fare [or equivalent] as compensation if you are delayed by 30 mins or more. They double it if it is more than an hour.
EDIT: I recently travelled to London with my girlfriend and we were diverted causing us to be just over an hour late. We have applied for compensation (they have compensation booklets to fill in and send back by freepost). one will compensation through National Rail vouchers.
Serves you right, too, it's moaning ******* like you that annoy me more than anything more. That said, if you really are delayed by that much, and you don't have the heart to accept that mechanical equipment does, occasionally, fail, and that it's not necessarily the companys fault, go ahead and try to claim your ticket back.
