Well, I can imagine absolutely no-one else interested in this news, but the new version of Train Simulator is released today. All owners of TS2013/12 will be upgraded to TS2014 for free, and in addition, RailSimulator.com (the developers) have given all current owners a bunch of 20/25% off Steam coupons for various DLC.

Even if there's nothing too notable in this release (it has better draw distance LOD, and increased integration/user friendliness of the developer tools), Sean Bean did the voice over for the new trailer. He doesn't die in it either! Instead he just waxes lyrical about trains and rail journeys in that husky strong Yorkshire voice of his.

I saw that this was going to be a free update a couple of weeks ago. Loads of DLC I'd like but it all adds up to a big chunk of money, even in the Steam sale. I'm still waiting on a decent London Waterloo station and SW Trains suburban route to come out.

I logged into Steam today and was informed there were 10 new items in my inventory - turns out they were all Train Simulator DLC discount vouchers.

Now I must go check my brand new copy of Train Simulator 2014. ;)

thanks for the heads up :) updated now and 30 discount things in my inventory. Theyre still way overpriced though, i usually wait for the xmas sale and pick a coutple of extras up then

I got 40 codes of which most are duplicates and for stuff i already have or don't want. Not really interested in the american stuff.

What a strange game.

I've just given it a try on the Isle of Wight - Sandown but I keep crashing into a steam train head on no matter what I do. It's on the same track and there's nowhere else for me to go.

Having lots of crashes (game variety) as well. The tutorial won't even load and my previous game has just crashed.

I'm wondering if the update has screwed over scenarios; not tried it myself so I wouldn't know, will give it a try tonight though.

Pay attention to traffic lights and the map, you probably need to wait before heading out or reversing and changing track or something like that.

The problem is that there's only one straight track. I can't do anything. There's literally nowhere to go. :D

Hello,

What are peoples thoughts on this game? I was hoping to be able to try a demo but I can only see the option to pay £34.99 on the steam site for it?

Is there enough content to pass a few hours without buying more DLC?

Thanks
Mark

Easily enough though it might be better waiting until the christmas sale if you arent too bothered. Pretty good but and hours spent trying scenarios makes it pretty good on its own.

What scenario is it? I will give it a go and see what happens.

It's the isle of Wight - Sandown journey. It only takes around 2 minutes but each time I've had head ons with a steam train. I just can't see any way to avoid it as it seems to be on the same single piece of track.

It's either (likely) my fault or it's a bug since the update.
