My gf booked a train from birmingham to london a while ago. In the interim period her debit card was changed by HSBC and the old card has been cut up and binned. I'm guessing the collection machine won't let her print her tickets so is she stuck with having to purchase new tickets?

The collect machine takes any debit / credit card, not just the one that you used to book. You don't even need a PIN.

What you do need afterwards is your booking reference - that's it. You're fine.

I'd recommend for your GF to contact the company she booked the tickets with. The ticketing system has an option for delivery method to be changed to "any card."

Some providers used this as standard in the past but I believe this has changed more recently.

Some providers don't like enabling the "any card" option, so request that the tickets are picked up from the ticket window at the station.

The best thing she can do is contact the company she booked the tickets with.

Is the card no not still the same

It was an account change so the debit card number changed.

Perfect, I'd read that whilst searching google but wasn't sure if it was true! :)

Too late sadly, typically she realised this at the last minute :p Train is tomorrow morning. Oh well if The_Abyss is correct it should be fine anyway.

Cheers guys

I'm pretty sure tbh. My office is very close to the local station, and I often pick up tickets for my other half - they're booked by her and I use my card to pick them up.

I also travel to on the train once every week on average - our firm books using Capita and they have a 'pick up at station' option. Our card details are not stored with them, and I can use any card I like to validate the machine before typing in the booking reference, which is what it really wants.

Oh, and when the tickets stop printing, there's a pause just long enough for you to think you should wander off, and then the receipt prints.

Have fun :)

Happened to me once. Boyfriend gave me the wrong card to get the tickets out. Didn't work in the machine but I just went to the ticket desk with my reference and insisted it was that card I'd booked on (as I really thought it was) and they found the booking and printed my tickets. Should be reet ;)
