Right, I am 27 years old, 21.8 stone and 5'8", Doctors measured my BMI as 45.7, Due to these factors i have decided to join the gym, I want to go at off peak times as i am very concious of my body at the moment so below is the regime i am going to start with..

MONDAY
Gym at 7:30am (morning is a good time to excersize)
an hour of Cardio split between the cycle machines and the running machine

WEDNESDAY
Gym at 7:30
20mins Cadrio (warm up)
40Min weights (Only heavy enough to do 3 sets of 15, I will do all muscle groups, not sure what weights to use, i know i was using 100lbs on the chest machine but thats all i know at the moment)

FRIDAY
Gym at 7:30
Same as monday

I will also be playing some badminton during the week with the guys from work, When i get my confidence up and start to tone up i will have a wider time for me to go.

My initial Goal is to lose body fat without reducing muscle bulk and also increasing muscle stamina as i have the strenghth but not the stamina, Eventually i will want to start to build mucle.

will this be suitable for me?

Thanks

tbh i would get to the gym and have a proper routine worked out.

it would probably be best to forget the weights for a couple of month, hit the cardio hard and start losing some body fat. 40 mins a week for 'all muscle groups' isnt enough, most people train different groups on different days (i do alternate atm, 1 day leg/lower body / 1 day upper body, not many exercises yet, but will be more)

personally i hate the BMI scale, 2 month ago i was in the 46 area, im still over 42 (clinically obese) however bf% wise im in the 'overweight' part, not the obese or clinically obese area (or is it just obese after 25%?)
also, could be worth doin some ab work, ok it wont give you a washboard stomach, but its still good for you. crunches / obliques(sp?) and leg raises (leg raises are fun at over 20 stone, for first few sessions you struggle to keep yourself held up!)

also try and get a decent nutritional diet setup. very very important when training :]

I agree, worry about getting your weight down to an acceptable level before you worry about building muscle. I'd do the same amount of cardio on the wednesday as the other days, and move weights (if you do them at all) to the tuesday and thursday.

The best people to ask about this are personal trainers and the like, they'd know what needs to be done specifically. Also get a good dietary plan sorted.

oh, as much as i do different sessions for weights, i have a static cardio session which is completed before moving onto the weights.

45 mins or so all on cardio - treadmill/xtrainer/rower/bike
every session also do my ab work

gotta concentrate as much as poss atm on cardio and bf% loss.

you sound quite a lot like me, i hope that you start to see some gains soon :D
