im travelling to reading from glasgow in august and was wondering what train service you all would reccommend i used. virgin trains seem to charge around £70 for a return ticket....is that the cheapest im going to get?? cheers all :)

Don't buy a return ticket, buy singles. Single from Reading to London, then a single from London to Glasgow central. Try it out and you'll find its much cheaper than buying a return.

EDIT:

Cheap day single from Reading to London: £12ish then the singles start around £15ish each way, if you've got a YP card you get 1/3 off some tickets.

As far as i know they all use the same system. Fiddle with times and dates. Also look into splitting the journey into lots of singles.

Hmm thats strange, when i travel from cornwall to reading a return ticket is about £1 more than a single.
