Eva Tiamat Medusa, a woman from Bruni, Texas, quit her job as the vice president of a bank several years ago in order to pursue her dream of living her life as a dragon. She made the decision after being diagnosed with HIV, which for her was a wake-up call that she wasn't living her life in the way she wanted to.

Now, after $60,000, she looks completely different - and she's so much happier for it.

Well fair enough, it is her money and if it makes her happy then no harm done. Still.... WTF???

This is some of what I get about 'conformity'. People think she's 'weird 'because she wants to be a dragon but beneath the tattoos, jewellery and make up she 's still a human being who probably became disillusioned with and sick of society and it's expectations and just wanted to be herself and not how society wants her to be and she's not hurting anybody else.
I'm far more suspicious of people who mindlessly conform to society's expectations, obey the law and all the rules and can do no wrong in the eyes of their mates and neighbours, especially those who claim to be all honest, respectable, upstanding, law abiding citizens.

While it's sad that being diagnosed with HIV made her mentally ill and I wouldn't laugh about that, I would (and do) laugh at (and am angry at) the idea that we should all be forced to support the delusions of mentally ill people because they're currently fashionable.

Someone who wants to spend loads of their own money to modify their own appearance - fine.

Someone who changes their physiology in some way - fine.

Someone who wants to pretend they're something they're not and demands that everyone else obeys them in that delusion - not fine.
