i was under the impression that SSD where port at read write speed, but they have very quick assess times. which is why they are good for OS installs and swap files.
With SSD there is a choice of two types of memory, MLC or SLC. SLC is what you get in the more expensive drives and is very expensive. MLC is cheaper but it's not that brill.
People get too hung up on transfer rate tbh.
When it comes to OS and a lot of games/apps it's the Access time that is far more important due to the fact that thousands if not hundreds of small files need to be accessed quickly.
Transfer rate is more important if say you were working with large single files such as Vobs or big hi-resolution pictures.
