Hi everyone! I've been signed up to a O2 24 month contract and I'm 18 months in. Right now I'm paying £10 for 50 minutes and unlimited texts which was ok when I got my Samsung Wave with my contract but that phone has long gone and I've gone to the Windows Phone camp.
I'd really like to move to a deal that offers Internet, and Ive been looking at the £10 deal on giffgaff. My problem is that I don't want a new number, is there anyway I could transfer the number from my current O2 contract without cancelling it?

Yes but you may need to pay for the rest of the 6 months left before O2 give you the PAC (porting authorisation code). O2 may give you the PAC code without paying for the remainder but they may charge.

You then give the PAC to the new network and they do it all for you.

I was fearing that might be the problem, if they could give me the PAC, but say assign the reminder of the contract to a new number, then someone else in my family could just use it up

Well if all you want is internet, you can add a bolt on.

If the minutes aren't enough then the current contract doesn't give you much value anyway, so you might as well just pay it off.

My tariff doesn't allow me to get bolt ons, and even if it did they are about £5 for 500mb wereas with giffgaff I can get unlimited data for £10!

If the worst comes to the worst then Ill have to pay it off, do you think it will be for the remaining months or would they offer any discount on it? I read somewhere that someone paid off the rental minus VAT? I'll give them a phone tomorrow
