I'l have two drives arriving some point this week I wish to create a RAID0 array with on an Intel ICH10R controller. The only drive to which everything is installed/held at the moment is a 320GB WD AAKS, which is about 20GB short of completely chocka.

Now could I set up the RAID array and clone my current hardrive image onto it, wipe the other drive and away we go..

OR, should I just reinstall and start again from scratch? Maybe even with Windows 7?

I'de like to avoid reinstalling if possible as I have loads of little programs/plugins/actions built up over much time that would be a pain to either find and backup or just redownload from tinterweb. That said, if it's really not a good idea just cloning it over, i'l take the time spent now saved later over convinience.

I don't know about Vista but in W7 you can save a disc image and use a restore disc to restore from this onto your array, this way nothing changes apart from the storage system.

However it's always good practice every once in a while to do a clean system install, gives you a chance to get rid of all those files from dead programmes or out of date demo's and the like.

It is possible to transfer an image, as long as the RAID driver is installed in the windows installation, however I would recommend a reinstall, for numerous reasons (fresh and faster install, raid driver may not be installed, etc...)
