Transfer rates?

Hi,

Ive just got an Icybox and have put the Western Digital SATA HD from my Sky box in there. Im using that as a backup, and am copying over pics/music from my internal SATA drive.

The external is connected via USB2.0. (I think) The transfer rate im getting is approx 18-20MB/sec. Is this as high as it should be? I thought it would be higher.

That's about right for USB. The rate will also be dependent on the size of the files, more small files will go slower than fewer larger files due to delays updating the MFT.

thats better than i usually get on my external on usb.
