Hi, I just bought an m225 ssd and installed windows 7 to it. This all works correctly and drivers have installed fine. My problem is that it doesnt pickup my old raid array from my vista setup.

Original:
OS 74gb raptor Vista 64 - intel controller
500gb storage - intel controller
2x500gb storage for a 1tb array - marvell 6121 controller
1tb storage - intel controller
1tb storage - intel controller

New:

64gb ssd m225 win 7 64 pro - intel controller
500gb storage - intel controller
2x500gb storage for a 1tb array - marvell 6121 controller
1tb storage - intel controller
1tb storage - intel controller

Now everything is detected in win 7 apart from my

2x500gb storage for a 1tb array - marvell 6121 controller

I noticed in device manager it had detected a "disk 0" which was only 8gb in size, i then realised this must be my array. I checked the controller and noticed win 7 had installed "standard dual channel controller" so i downloaded the win 7 drivers from the asus site and installed those, hung my system midway through but it did install.
Now the "disk 0" device has dissappeared and my marvell 6121 controller is present. Still no 1tb raid array =/

Mobo: Asus P5Q-E

Im running in IDE sata mode, the rest of the sata ports run off the ICH10 controller as you can see in the pic. It doesnt even detect any extra hard drives in Disk management either, no unformated/uninitialized hds..

Its going to be something really silly like "you cant transfer raids from one OS to another" isnt it?

What does the bios read for your raid array on boot up is it working? It should say if it is functional or non-functional.

I know there was no need to unplug anything other than your raptor on your motherboard at the time, but you might have let another cable come out of the sata port?

If the top two questions are sorted, first try reseting your cmos on your motherboard, i would try that first then re-input your settings and see if windows 7 picks up your drives sometimes i believe there can a problem with the OS reading bios information at times.

If you had something like "Acronis*Disk Director Suite" makes handle drives hell a lot easier, it would be interesting to see if your drives are formatted or not?

And changing OS shouldn't stop you using a raid array, its just the drivers might, so when installing the OS you should install the drivers on install, [Load Driver] insert diskette etc

Ill give this a go when i get home tonight, do you think switching to AHCI in the bios will have an affect too? Also the bios is on ver 1800 or something and im still on 0800 so might be an idea to update that...

You know, i think i was just being a complete and utter noob. I messed around for ages, probably 3 hours. Finally checked the power supply to the hard drives and low and behold one of the power connectors on my raid drives was loose. Pushed it a little further and VOILA. Fixed.

Thanks for the replies :)

Excuse me i need to go slap myself silly.

Yeah it happens to the best of us m8, switching to AHCI mode is what i have on it supports capabilities (such as hot-plugging and native command queuing).

Also just to add i recently found an option on the nvidia 790i motherboard to enable or disable a reset to clear the configuration data in the ESCD bios, when and if the user gets a non-bootable system after a recently new added hardware.
