Hi Folks,

I have recently bought a new pc and want to transfer files from my mac book (running leapord) to my pc (running vista home premium 64) over my wireless network.

However, I can't for the life of my figure out how to do it.

Can someone please let me know how to do it or point me to a website that'll explain how I can see my macs shared files on my pc and so copy them over. I am able to ping the laptop from the pc but it doesn't show up in the network window.

Thanks

Matt

PS. I haven't got any external HDDs etc that I could transfer the files with, this is my only option.

Was trying to set that up myself a month or so ago...gave up in the end and bought a cheap usb stick.

The problem is I have about 80 gigs worth of stuff, I don't really want to buy an external HDD even if they are quite cheap at the moment. It seems silly that I can't just network them, I thought it would e quite easy really. If I had 2 PCs I could do it in minutes but I can't fathom how to create shared folders on the mac so my PC can access them.

I'll check out that link above when I get home from work.

Thanks

Matt

why don't you do it the otherway around
share a PC folder, then in finder, connect to server:
smb://192.168.0. whatever your home network address of the PC is. should have to input your pc login name and pwd.

I was using this just last night. From what I remember this was how I did it.

1) Go to mac sharing and turn on windows sharing
2) Turn off mac firewall (not sure if you need this step for sure)
3) Go to windows box and type in ip of mac followed by \username
i.e. 1.2.3.4\slinkie (or whatever your shortname is i think)

This should bring up a promot for your mac login details. Once you enter these then you should be able to see the whole of your 'slinkie' user folder and its contents such as applications, documents folders etc etc.

Hope this helps.

That's how I've been doing it. I'm sure there's a way to do it the other way, but I realised this way works so have just ended up doing it like this.
