Transfering files without network connection

We have a test rig that needs data transfered to it from our main network, the test system is strictly not allowed to be connected to the main network in any way

Staff are also not permitted to use USB drives

Is there a way of transferring data between the two systems?

I've tried a USB transfer cable and it was gash, don't know if it is the software or hardware but it took forever just thinking about what it was going to do

Burn files to DVD if you have a networked pc with a DVD-RW drive?

Alernately, you can copy the files to a specific network PC, then take it off the network and network it with your test box??

DVDs? If its a one off transfer I don't see why you can't use an external USB drive. You could also network them together without touching the main network.

should have mentioned in my first post, DVD's and CD's are not viable because the users don't have writers in the machines. Also the data frequently needs putting on there and is ever changing

Our security policies prevent staff from using USB devices

Copying to a machine on our network and then hooking it up to the test rig is ok I suppose but I'm sure that staff will manage to make a mess of doing that!

take hard drive from one machine, put it in the other, transfer, put hard drive back

take the HD out of the machine and temporarily install it in the other box?

How about using a UTP crossover cable, connect both PC/laptops together, they should both use an APIPA IP address and should be able to see others network shares.

Think you need to talk to your tech guys, I'm sure they can come up with a solution as they have control over the policies.

Not quite that straight forward otherwise I wouldn't be messing around with other solutions. There are select staff that can use USB drives but their time gets wasted tranferring stuff for the other guys

I'll just bite the bullet and set up a firewall so they can FTP the files across
