Ok so my insurance is up for renewal shortly, and I want to switch insurers due to getting a better quote elsewhere. Now, I assume my current insurer won't send proof of NCB for the year until the year is fully complete, and my new insurer won't accept the discount until they see proof?

As such does this mean I will have to wait a short while for the letter of proof to arrive before I can start my new policy? How do I get my car insured in the mean time?

Edit

I am an idiot:

'You will be required to submit proof of your named driving history within 35 days of starting a new policy.'

Sorted :D

They are correct.

Cancel and pay all charges on your existing policy and then you'll be able to obtain proof.

But only if you let the insurance run its course. I'm of the understanding the OP wants to jump ship now, mid-term?

I expect some of the bigger 'groups' of insurers share certain information, making the process seamless.
