Transformers: Revenge of The Fallen

Damn. I saw the first Transformers film and half decent. Not bad. Not good. Just in the middle.

Today, I watched the latest episode of Heroes and StarGate Universe, which I thought were both OK.

Then I watched Tranformers2. It was terrible.

Incredibly weak plot.

Lots of explosions, but the action sort've felt old hat. An explosion can look good the first time and even the second time. But after about 100 explosions, it gets a tad boring.

I was impressed by the CGI however. Some people have said that the CGI was weak, but I strongly disagree. They managed to meld the green screen work, seamlessly with the CGI and live action footage.

The robot fights were technically very impressive and as a showcase for CGI, this film makes an excellent advert.

I think the movie would've been better without the kid's parents in it (perhaps it would've been better had he been an orphan or estranged from his parents).

M.Fox's character was totally useless. I mean, she actually got in the way. I can't actually think of any character in any movie which was so pointless. But I guess there will be teenage males who may watch the movie just for her and place her image in their w@nk bank ;), so I can understand that she was in it to sell extra tickets (which is ultimately what its all about).

Overall: 4.5/10.

PS. I saw 'Drag Me To Hell' last week and that was fantastic.

Most of the film (and the first) is fine, if nothing special.
But for me it becomes dull as dishwater when the scenes full of big metal blobs appear, fighting each other.
I can never tell whose who or why I should care (most of the transformers have the personality of a car ( :D ) ) But theres worst ways to kill an evening.

I had this problem, too. But I suspect, if I were 12 years old, I would know exactly who was who.

Personally, in order to make it easier to tell the good guys from the bad, they should've had red eyes (bad guys) and blue eyes (good guys). The only 3 robots I could tell were Optimus Prime, MegaTron and Bumble Bee (who was awesome, for such a small bot).

PS: I just saw Star Trek and it was fantastic. Seriously, Transformers was such a waste of time, considering that there are so many other great films. Had Transformers not been hyped and marketed so much, I doubt many people would've watched it.

Watched this for the first time the other night and was disappointed. Half way through i realised I didnt really care what was going on.

If i had watched this at the cinema or an IMAX i probaly would have enjoyed it more as could just switch the brain off and wwatch the pretty colours, explosions and sounds. However at home and watching it as a movie it was just...meh

I can't help but feel that there are some of the Summer blockbustery type movies, where huge budgets are involved where the scripts/plots appear to have been rushed though.

How difficult can it be to get a strong plot together?

In some instances, the most simplest plots are the best, so there really isnt any excuse.

Too many american soldiers.

Too much Megan "Flavor of the moment" Fox.

Too much aweful acting.

Too many terrible, cheesy and downright lame robots.

Not enough of The Fallen.

Too much BLOODY BAY!!!!!

The first movie was OK, I have it on DVD and watch it occasionly, this however was shockingly bad.

I like it , its cheesy and if you accept that cheesynes then megan foxes random sexy poses and the ghetto robots are quite fun

though i do still like the first one as i think it apealed to an older audience rather than this but concidering the rubbish we usualy get at the cinema this ..like i said .. is fun

One thing I noticed on IMDB, was the ratings for this movie. It would appear that most of the people who rate this film highly tend to be under 18 yrs of age and male.

To be fair, if I were 10 yrs old, I think this would be one of my favourite films. It has a lot of pretty colours, graphics, lots of special effects along with simple characters. As a kid, this is exactly the sort of thing I would like.

As a 34 year old though, i prefer something with more story to it (though I still love special effects...the more the better).

Wasn't keen on it I have to admit, just found it a bit boring - as above comments have said, if I was still a young whipper snapper I would have loved it. Overall preferred the first film.
