Out of curiosity, being a native speaker, do you really think South Americans speak/write spanish that poorly?

lol no not all south americans, though often the difference between their spanish and ours can be like the difference between how the queen talks and how a chav talks. depends on the country tbh. Plus south americans use usted all the time whereas we only use it for people we respect.

Actually, where I'm from we only use usted for people we respect.

We do use "vos" instead of "tu", however.

Every country is different I suppose...

My Spanish friend says "He doesn't speak Spanish, I can guarantee that. Was it a direct translation or something?". He also said that usted is very formal and doesn't fit at all.
