The favourite Mac bit torrent client finally reaches 1.0. I know people have had trouble with some of the recent releases, so hopefully those issues are gone.

My favourite new feature is the ability to finally sort by "Activity" - so if you're seeding a load of torrents, you no longer have to scan through the list to see which ones are actively uploading. The new monochrome icons are a bit dubious but I usually have the toolbars hidden anyway.

All in all a nice open source project that I'm grateful for.

yeah, thanks very much - now I'm trying to get that clutch web interface working on my existing apache installation - it won't work with xampp because of a lack of the sockets extension so I've got to manually install apache 2, php and mysql. joy :/

Is the speed and long time to quit problems fixed? I orignally started using Transmission at 0.9 iirc and the speed was so slow, but reverting back to 0.82 fixed it.

The time to quit is still noticeable but a lot less so than recent versions.

I never had speed problems with .9x versions - saw over 2 MBytes/s on nice torrents.

I got clutch running perfectly for me. Just had to set up the router so I could reach it from places rather than home. Pretty nice.

^^^
Yes, the quit time is still noticeable. Don't understand why it does that. Thought it was just me.

the thing I really miss is being able to selectively download files - with transmission you have to download the whole lot and it's pretty irritating!

No you don't. Click on the torrent then click inspector and then one of the tabs has a list of the files. De-select the ones you don't want.

This version is just as bad as the other 0.9* updates.

Automatic port mapping is still broke, and it takes a millennia to quit.. oh, but that's ok it has a "quitting" label.. wow

Try to tell the developers and they just say "it takes a while to stop your torrents"... err, this is a fresh install and no torrents AT ALL and it still takes a good 2 minutes to quit.

Transmission has now been trashed, pile of crap.

This new version of transmission quits pretty much instantly for me, whether i have torrents running or not. (dunno whether it makes any difference but im still running Tiger)
dont rly like the new icons tho..

i had the late quitting problem, but i updated to a nightly release after EVH created a thread about it, since then its been a lot better with the quitting, although there are some torrents that just dont work in transmission and i chuck em into uTorrent and they go just fine, is this kinda problem fixed in 1.0? i can live with the late quitting if that has started playing up again but not downloading torrents is just mental :(

Only just started using Transmission, have to say I'm liking it so far.
BOOM! thanks very much
Also you can click the little arrow with the cog icon on the left of a torrent - in addition to letting you set the download speeds etc it also has a list of all the files with little ticks next to them, not tried it but I presumed clicking those lets you toggle which files. In the minimal view there's no cog, the same menu can be found by clicking the little folder icon.

This version is much better than the last 2 i have used. Quits pretty much instantly.

Have you manually forwarded the ports on your router/modem?

The previous releases up to 0.94 all forwarded them automatically (I didn't forward them on the router) but now Transmission just says "Port stealth" when I try to get it to map them automatically.

I'm thinking of trying to open the ports manually but I recall doing this with the 0.95/6 releases and it still said "port stealth". Hassle considering I can just use 0.82 and it's fine :(

Seems best to have the automated port forwarding / UPnP feature on the router disabled anyway. Having it set up that any application, good or bad, can punch its way through the NAT firewall without any notification can't be good for security

I've always forwarded it myself anyway.

I've changed my opinion of Transmission (again :o)

I've manually configured a port to open, and don't let it map it via UPnP and now it closes instantly (using 1.01). Happy again!
