Hi, Transmission just refuses to download at a decent speed (higher than 3kb/sec:rolleyes:) and i'm getting sick of its constant problems to get working. Is there any other lightweight alternatives? I don't wait a large program (Azerus sp?) but i heard uTorrent for mac is in the works? Is there any info on this?

I found that changing the number of connections per torrent to help greatly.

Also, tell Transmission to ignore encrypted torrents and you'll be fine.

Do you have a green light in the preferences of Transmission ?

i reckon give it a few more revisions and transmission will be the daddy, but i find it to be fairly buggy and unreliable at the mo... i'm just using utorrent from my vmware if transmission doesnt play nice with a specific torrent...

I've gone back to Azureus. I can always get connections on seeded torrents with that, but I never can with Transmission. Azureus might be sluggish and a hog, but it's the best on Mac

Agreed - as long as I'm not using anything resource hungry or editing large vid file / photos, my 2GHz Core Duo, 2GB RAM MacBook can cope with Azureus running in the background along side with Safari, iTunes, the odd toolbar apps (like Cover sultra, iScrobber), mail, word and iCal without feeling in anyway, sluggish.

Azureus is a bigger footprint than necessary but it is the Leatherman of Bit Torrent utilities. All in one. The 3.X release has some stupid front end. Thankfully you can switch all that 3.X vuze nonsense off to get back to pure 2.X style goodness.

I find Transmission to work fine, although a little buggy, it's nice and lightweight, just needs a bit of tweaking to get good speeds (what EVH said.)

Transmission is brilliant :)

I have port forwarding setup on my router to my mac and just tell transmission to use that port = great speeds :)

Maybe you just suck at selecting the proper torrents :p

Was downloading at 105kb/s when I left this morning :)

Aww bless, it's like you're lovers ;)

Is there a link to a Vanilla Azeurus client? The one I tried was terrible, and bloated.

It turns out the torrent died at 83% :(

Anyway, i dont have a green light in preferences but dont have a problem with the speed, since i forwarded the port to my router. Looks like i just suck at choosing the right torrents :P
