Transporting high value items in my own car - insured?

I suspect your home insurance policy would cover the item, but that's because the damage occurred at home right? ;)

I guess path of least resistance would be the key.
IF I had a prang, so long as I could get the remains of the TV home, then obviously it fell off the wall while I was trying to fit it - home insurance.
IF the car was totalled and/or I was unable to get to the TV or there was no way in hell that simply fell from a wall etc, I guess that is where it gets more interesting.
I'm confident with the bit I posted a little earlier - looks like if I'm transporting my own goods between certain locations I am covered. I only had to "name" items with a value over £1500 (I've paid £1499 for the TV which will become £1349 once rebates have come through - but still under £1500), and it is being moved from one location with a permanent resident to another location with a permanent resident.

Anyway - TV was delivered earlier today. Picked up from my mum's. Drove home in the snow, ice and more snow. TV safely home - no insurance claims required :)

If someone else crashes into you and it is their fault, then their insurance has to cover all damage. No limitations.

As others have mentioned, different when claiming on your own insurance.

TV has probably been moved already but most house contents insurance policies have an element that covers items outside of the home including electrical goods. So for everyone saying "it fell down the stairs" in jest, might be reassured that they don't need to commit fraud as its likely covered for being in the car.
