Transporting Plasma TV

I think it is more a case of protecting the heavy glass panel, which just might crack under its own weight if laid flat (or is given a good shoogle in the car).
45 degrees will probably be ok, if it is well wedged and cant move.

We transported a 50" Panasonic Plasma flat on its back in the back of the car, lugging it through doorways at various angles either end of the journey and it was fine. That said I'd probably treat my own with kid gloves and ensure it was the right way up.

providing it's well packed and you not going off-roading you should be fine. The courier that delivered ours bounced it by its corner down a flight of stairs instead of asking for a hand. It survived.

I recently did this without the packing, and I was a nervous wreck. Make sure to wedge it in a place where it can't move and always be cautious of where the screen is. If you are thinking it's going to be risky, find some cheap packing. Have you considered consulting some Long Distance Movers. They can generally advise on you material and logistics for moving.
