Travelling - Storage Space?!

If it's anything like my travel experience you'll have PLENTY of time to review and delete the duds. For 22 days, just get a bunch of CF cards. You don't want to pay to sit at a computer you don't trust waiting for things to upload.

If you take 5 or 6 4GB CF cards they'll weight next to nothing, take up very little space and are pretty cheap to boot. There is no way you'll bring back ~20GB worth of photos worth keeping so you'll have plenty of storage to work with.

I wouldn't go with 16GB cards even shooting RAW+JPEG on your 30D you will get an awful lot of pictures on a single card which would be gutting if one died or someone nicked your camera! I use a mixture of 2GB and 4GB cards in my 30D as I then have to change the card every few days meaning if my camera gets nicked or the card dies I don't loose all my photos.

+1 for not using 16gb cards. If one went down as they sometimes do you would loose the lot. OK there are recovery programs but it's a chance you don't want to take. One thing I would suggest is that you get yourself some sticky dots. When you have filled a card put a dot on it. It can be confusing sometimes to know what is full and what is empty, and you don't want to be messing about if you need to take a shot quickly.

Yeah, gonna go with buying a couple of 4GB cards and just delete the duffs as I go.

And good shout about the sticky dots! :)
